What are the Seven Personal Hygiene?

There are seven types of personal hygiene according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

  • Keeping Hands Clean: it is not a secret anymore, especially after we survived COVID-19, that washing hands regularly is one of the elemental acts to protect ourselves from any disease and illness. The combo of the hand soap, water, and our rubbing movement will kill most of the germs we had in our hands.

  • Nail Hygiene: Nail hygiene consists of an act to clean the nails and trim them as under fingernails are a place that might collect unknown germs from our surroundings. The CDC recommended short and trimmed nails to protect us from any germs that could lead us to an illness.

  • Facial Cleanliness: Facial cleanliness includes regular and proper face washing with the most suitable face wash soap for your skin. Washing your face is not only about keeping your face clean but also about making you feel fresher.

  • Coughing and Sneezing: When you have a cold usually you will experience coughing and sneezing. Hence, it is best to cover your mouth and nose with tissue and a handkerchief to ensure the viruses and germs are not spread.

  • Foot Hygiene: The foot is the body part that might get us sick as they could gain germs by touching various surfaces. It is recommended to always wash your feet, clipping the nails, and wearing proper footwear.

  • Hair and Scalp Hygiene: Maintaining a clean and healthy scalp can be done through proper hair washing with shampoo regularly. It is also important to choose the shampoo that suits your hair and scalp condition.

  • Menstrual Hygiene: Menstruation also known as period, is a normal biological process that is experienced by millions of women in the world. It is essential to know and understand what type of hygiene practice to do when you experience menstruation. From the pads, tampons, or menstrual cups to the cleanliness while you manage your vagina.
