What is The Circulatory Organ for Humans?

Human has ten running system inside their body to keep them alive and functioning. Those ten systems are skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive.

Each has its purpose. They work in tandem to ensure the body runs properly. It is also our task to keep healthy and fit. In this article, we will talk about the cardiovascular system, also known as the circulatory system.

Circulatory (cardiovascular) is a system that circulates blood and lymph all over the body. It starts from the blood pumping in the heart to the lungs to get oxygen. After that, the heart distributes the oxygenated blood through arteries (blood vessels) to every corner of the body.

The veins will bring the lack-of-oxygen blood to the heart and start the same process again. The purpose of this process is to remove carbon dioxide and other unnecessary cell waste.

This system is vital for the health of organs, muscles, and tissues. According to Australia's Health Direct, there are three essential parts of the circulatory system, heart, blood, and vessel.

Why is the Heart Important for Human Life?

Many people know that the heart is one of the essential organs of every living creature. Without it, we cannot function properly. Hence, we should take care of it to keep ourselves healthy.

The heart's muscles tirelessly keep pumping more than thousands of gallons of blood every day to distribute oxygen and various nutrients to our body. Below are some essential functions of the human heart that we should know:

  • Pump blood to the whole body.
  • The place for the circulatory system.
  • Helps to distribute nutrients to the body.
  • Control the blood pressure.
  • Maintain the rhythm and speed of the heart rate.
  • Circulate hormones and other vital substances to the different parts of the body.
  • Discard the waste of metabolism (carbon dioxide).

What is The Anatomy of the Human Heart?

We need to know our heart because it holds many roles in our lives. The heart is an inside organ the size of a fist that pumps blood all over the body. The human heart has four chambers or parts: right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle.

These chambers consist of muscle and electrical impulses. The brain and nervous system have a direct connection to the heart. Hence, this organ is vital for human life. The heart is located in the left area of our chest, protected by the ribcage, and sits between the left and right lungs.

Besides the chambers, it has other parts such as walls, valves, blood vessels (plumbing), and electrical conduction systems (electricity).

  • The walls of the heart have three layers, which are the endocardium (inner layer), myocardium (muscular middle layer), and epicardium (protective outer layer).
  • There are two types of heart valves; atrioventricular (AV) valves and semilunar (SL) valves. The AV valves consist of tricuspid and mitral valves. Meanwhile, the SL valves include the aortic and pulmonary valves.
  • The blood vessels help the heart pump blood using three types of vessels, arteries, veins, and capillaries.

So, we can conclude that the heart is a complex organ of humans. Hence we should take care of it carefully.

How Does the Human Heart Work?

The human heart is an essential organ for pumping blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients to all the cells and organs in the human body. It serves as a powerful muscular pump that runs continuously, contracting, and relaxing in a coordinated way. So, how does human heart work?

The heart is part of a complex circulatory system with two circuits, the pulmonary, and systemic. The pulmonary circuit carries oxygen-depleted blood from the heart to the lungs for oxygenation, while the systemic circuit transports oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
